MISS CARIBBEAN

LA

Miss Jahmea Bent, born and raised in Los Angeles, CA by two loving Belizean parents, instilled in her a deep appreciation for Belizean culture. She credits her family for surrounding her in this rich heritage and for that, continues to embrace and share her ethnic background in various facets of her life just like her family does. One of those facets being pageantry. Representing Belize in pageantry runs in the family and it was only a matter of time that she would transition her beauty and brains to this industry.

In January 2023, Jahmea made her debut in the intimate Queen of Kingdom Day pageant, where she was crowned queen of the Kingdom Day parade in South Central Los Angeles. Encouraged by this achievement, she decided to apply for Miss Caribbean Los Angeles 2024 with the encouragement of her family and associates. Despite initial hesitation, she took a leap of faith and applied, unaware of the significant outcome that awaited her. After numerous days and nights of dedication and support from the pageant organization and family, Jahmea made history as the first Belizean woman to win the Miss Caribbean Los Angeles title. For Jahmea, this opportunity signifies far more than a crown and sash; it positions her to fulfill her purpose and expand her platform, opening doors to even greater opportunities.
To leverage her title, Jahmea intends to highlight Caribbean individuals and businesses in Los Angeles, amplifying their stories and contributions. She is also developing various projects, such as initiatives for single mothers and Caribbean student athletes in high schools and colleges. Additionally, Jahmea plans to host networking events for aspiring Caribbean artists and entertainers collaborating with established professionals in Los Angeles. A significant project close to her heart is “Who I Am,” an empowerment event for women focusing on authenticity and self-expression through fashion. Jahmea’s goal is to empower women and promote mental and physical well-being through enlightened representation. She eagerly looks forward to launching this event during Women’s History Month next March. For her upcoming trip to Belize in September, there she aims to provide resources and assistance to her community as well as participate in Belizean Independence Day celebrations. Jahmea looks forward to continuing her journey as a positive, encouraging, and supportive role model, honoring those who have supported her along the way.
